Some of the difficulty is context. <br /><br />I of course know the word <I>beca</I>, but it doesn't capture the idea of alumni giving money to a school they attended, something that seems odd in a place where education is publicly funded. Nor does <I>beca</I> explain the workings of an endowed chair--the independence of having your funds come from the interest of an endowment. <br /><br />I'm not sure that <I>período</I> expresses not being able to be fired for anything except poor behavior, or if tenure exists for professors here, but I'd have to ask around. <br /><br />For March Madness brackets I was trying to explain the custom of filling out a bracket with predictions about who would win each game.
