in Rio / update

It was not even four weeks ago that we returned home from Cuba and now I'm once again out of the country, this time for the meeting of the Latin American Studies Association. Wow. My time settling back into life at home really flew by. It's good to be here and I'm excited about seeing old friends and making new ones. Walking around there are some interesting contrasts between Rio and Havana. I may write about that sometime.

I realize I haven't posted since I got home, so here's a brief update. I arrive home Tuesday, then leave again Thursday to see friends and family and help my mom move to Reno. I get back in early July. A week later Allison wraps up her program studying Yucatec Mayan in Mexico. The time seems to be passing reasonably easy given all these distractions.
