Things I've recently had trouble explaining in Spanish

Except for hydrogen peroxide, it wasn't a matter of needing one word to explain the concept. Some of the difficulty is context.
I of course know the word beca, but it doesn't capture the idea of alumni giving money to a school they attended, something that seems odd in a place where education is publicly funded. Nor does beca explain the workings of an endowed chair--the independence of having your funds come from the interest of an endowment.
I'm not sure that período expresses not being able to be fired for anything except poor behavior, or if tenure exists for professors here, but I'd have to ask around.
For March Madness brackets I was trying to explain the custom of filling out a bracket with predictions about who would win each game. So the problem wasn't explaining that there's a final tournament, but about the bracket and pool itself.
